AIRS Housing And Supportive Services Programs

Permanent Housing Program (PHP) Youth Initiative Program (YIP) At-The-Door (ATD) Don Miller Homes (DMH) Hispanic/Latino Housing Initiative (HLHI)
Overview Property is leased from landlords and sublet to our clients. Clients are required to pay 30% of their income toward rent; a federal rental assistance program pays the balance of the rent and provides a "utility allowance" paid directly to BGE. AIRS not only provides housing, but also supportive services that create greater access to healthcare, employability, and income. Targets young adults ages 18-24. Provides rental assistance and utility allowance, case management services, bus passes, laundry tokens, and client education. Clients are expected to participate in education, employment, and community service activities. At The Door is a partnership with HERO, a loval nonprofit targeting HIV+ individuals preparing for prison release. Ex-offenders transition into permanent housing with case management services provided through AIRS. Program goals are focused to facilitate client access to education, employment and community service opportunities. Don Miller Homes are the cornerstone of AIRs. Founded as the faith-based community's response to HIV/AIDS, the Don Miller Homes provide 24-hour personal care for individuals severely disabled with HIV/AIDS. Compassionate care supports individuals as they experience the impact of AIDS and prepare for death. HIV+ Spanish speaking individuals are provided supportive housing. Through intensive Case Management, residents access health care, education, job training, and employment, with the intent to develop the skills and income to assume a rental lease on their own.
